How to Search Benton County Traffic Court Records
The first stop is the court that issued the case. Bentonville District Court uses Bentonville Municipal Online Services, with cases on file from May 2013 forward. Rogers District Court and most other county departments route through Arkansas Online Court Payment, the statewide eTraffic portal at pay.arcourts.gov. Both portals return active cases, paid cases, dismissed cases, and any open balance. Tickets can take up to one week to appear after the agency files the citation.
Before starting, the searcher should have the citation in hand. The fastest lookups need the citation number. Name searches need a first name, a last name, and a date of birth. Driver's license lookups need the license number and a date of birth. A citation marked "Must Appear" cannot be paid online and the court date must be kept.
- Open the correct portal. Bentonville uses Municipal Online Services; Rogers and most other Benton County district court departments use Arkansas eTraffic at pay.arcourts.gov.
- Choose the issuing court from the dropdown if the portal asks for it.
- Enter the citation number, or enter the driver name with a date of birth, or enter the license number with a date of birth.
- Review the case details. Check the charge, the court date, the disposition, and the balance due.
- Pay the citation, schedule a court date to contest it, or call the court clerk to request a certified copy of the disposition.
Which Courts Handle Traffic Cases in Benton County
Arkansas District Courts hold jurisdiction over traffic violations, misdemeanor offenses, state-law and local-ordinance violations, and preliminary felony matters under the Arkansas Judiciary District Courts page. Benton County splits its citation flow across three district court divisions and several city departments. The court that hears a case is set by the city or area where the officer wrote the ticket.
Bentonville District Court is Benton County District Court Division 2 and sits under Judge Ray Bunch. Rogers District Court is the Benton County Rogers Division under Judge Chris Griffin. Centerton, Little Flock, Lowell, and Gravette/Gentry sit under Division 4 with Judge Jeff Conner. Siloam Springs is its own department under Judge A.J. Anglin.
Rogers District Court's official page is at rogersar.gov/364/District-Court.
The page lists Judge Chris Griffin, Clerk Dana Burk, the 4:45 p.m. payment-window cutoff, and the court's traffic, ordinance, misdemeanor, civil, and small claims jurisdiction.

Types of Traffic Cases on Record
Benton County district courts post a wide mix of traffic case types. Speeding more than 15 mph over the posted limit is a Class C misdemeanor under Ark. Code Ann. § 27-50-302. Moving violations in a work zone carry an extra fine equal to the underlying fine under Ark. Code Ann. § 27-50-408. Reckless driving with a passenger under 18 carries an additional $5 fine.
- Speeding - 1-15 mph over, and 15+ over which is a Class C misdemeanor.
- Failure to obey a traffic-control device - stop signs, signals, and posted limits.
- Careless and reckless driving - charged under state traffic code.
- Driving on a suspended or revoked license - heard at the district court level.
- No proof of insurance, registration, and inspection - filed as ordinance or state code.
- Seat belt, child restraint, school bus, and school zone - common minor citations.
- Commercial vehicle and CDL violations - handled with strict federal rules (see CDL section).
What Benton County Traffic Court Records Show
A Benton County traffic case file holds the citation, the court action, and the money side. Most fields are public. Personal identifiers like Social Security number, full date of birth, and the full driver's license number are masked or redacted under Arkansas Judiciary Administrative Order No. 19. Body camera video and sworn affidavits are not attached to the public web record and must be asked for at the court clerk's window.

Searching by Citation Number vs by Name
The citation number is the cleanest key. It is unique and returns one case. Use it when the ticket is in hand. Name plus date of birth works when the ticket is lost or when the searcher is not the driver. Common names can return more than one match, so the date of birth narrows the result. The Arkansas eTraffic portal also accepts a driver's license number with a date of birth as a third option.
Bentonville's portal allows more search modes than the statewide system. Vehicle plate and business name lookups are available, which helps fleet owners and rental cases. The clerk's office at 479-271-3120 can confirm a case that does not appear online if the citation was just written.
| Field | Type | Required | Notes / Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Court | Dropdown | Yes | Pick the issuing district court on Arkansas eTraffic. |

Paying or Contesting a Benton County Traffic Ticket
Most minor citations can be paid online before the listed court date. Bentonville District Court takes online payments at bentonvillear.com/courtpayments and by phone at 888-276-1012. Rogers District Court takes online payment through Arkansas eTraffic. Bella Vista, Pea Ridge, Cave Springs, and the other Division 2 and Division 4 departments link a payment option from their court pages. Card fees apply at checkout on every portal.
To contest a ticket, the driver should not pay it. Paying is treated as a plea of guilty or no contest under the eTraffic terms. The defendant must appear at the court date listed on the citation or call the court clerk to set arraignment. A citation marked "Must Appear" cannot be cleared by mail or by online payment. Drivers who miss the court date risk a Failure to Appear warrant and a driver's license suspension. CDL holders should not request a deferred disposition without speaking to counsel; the federal masking rule blocks it.
Public Access Laws for Traffic Court Records
Traffic court records are public records under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act and the Arkansas Judiciary's court-records access rule. The case index, charge, plea, fine, and balance are open to anyone. Juvenile traffic matters are restricted under Ark. Code Ann. § 9-27-309. Sealed misdemeanor traffic convictions drop off the public view. Driver license numbers, Social Security numbers, and full dates of birth are masked at the portal level.
Key Statutes:
Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-105 - the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act rule on the examination and copying of public records.
Administrative Order No. 19 - the Arkansas Supreme Court rule on access to court records.
Ark. Code Ann. § 16-90-1401 et seq. - the Comprehensive Criminal Record Sealing Act of 2013.
Court Traffic Records vs State Driver Records
This is the most common confusion. The court file lives at the Benton County district court that handled the case. The Arkansas state driver record lives at the Arkansas DFA Driver Records section. Insurance carriers and most employers look at the driver record. Defense attorneys, prosecutors, and the cited driver look at the court file. A dismissed case shows a dismissal at the court but should not post a conviction on the state driver record.
| Item | Court Traffic Record | Arkansas State Driver Record |
|---|---|---|

| Where to access | Bentonville Municipal Online Services, Arkansas eTraffic, or in person | Online order from DFA, mail, or in person in Little Rock |

CDL and Commercial Driver Records
Commercial driver's license holders face stricter rules in Benton County. Federal law at 49 CFR § 384.226 bars Arkansas from masking, deferring, or diverting a CDL holder's conviction for almost any state or local traffic-control violation. The rule applies whether the driver was in a commercial truck or a private car at the time. Out-of-state CDL holders cited in Benton County are reported to the home state under 49 CFR § 384.209.
The practical effect at a Benton County district court is plain. A district judge cannot offer a CDL holder a deferred disposition that keeps the case off the CDLIS file. Employers and motor carriers pull the Commercial Record from DFA before hiring, and certain entries stay on a Commercial Record longer than the standard three-year window. CDL drivers should review their own record before they apply for a new job.
DUI / DWI Cases
DWI is charged under Ark. Code Ann. § 5-65-103. A first offense is a misdemeanor with 24 hours to one year of jail (the court may order public service in lieu of jail), a fine of $150 to $1,000, a six-month license suspension, and a state-approved alcohol education program. Arkansas does not allow a DWI to plead down to a lesser charge. DWI citations cannot be paid online; the defendant must appear.
For full Benton County DUI/DWI case information, see Benton County criminal records.
Deferred Adjudication and Defensive Driving Course
Benton County district judges have discretion to allow a defensive driving course in exchange for a dismissal or a reduction on minor traffic citations. Eligibility is set case by case. Past driving history and the nature of the offense both matter. Major offenses, including DWI, drug-related driving, and any crash with serious injury or death, are not eligible. The driver must get court approval before signing up for a course. An unapproved course will not be credited and the fee is lost. Courts want a course approved by the Arkansas Supreme Court or accepted by the local district judge.
To request the option, call the issuing court clerk before the court date. Bentonville District Court 479-271-3120, Rogers District Court 479-621-1132, Bella Vista 479-367-7625, and Pea Ridge 479-451-1101 all field these calls. CDL holders cannot use defensive driving to keep a conviction off the CDLIS driver record under the federal masking rule.
Sealing or Expunging Traffic Records
Some misdemeanor traffic convictions can be sealed under the Comprehensive Criminal Record Sealing Act of 2013, Ark. Code Ann. § 16-90-1401 et seq. Sealing is not automatic. The driver files a petition with the court that handled the case. A sealed case drops off public view but stays open to law enforcement and certain licensing bodies. The state driver record at DFA does not follow the court-side seal on its own; it ages off on its own retention schedule. CDL convictions cannot be sealed in a way that removes them from the CDLIS file.
Fees for Traffic Record Copies
Two fee streams matter for Benton County traffic records. The first is at the court that holds the case. Certified copies of district court dispositions are priced by the issuing court, not by the Circuit Clerk's published schedule. The second is at DFA Driver Services, where the state driver record is ordered.
